Control and check screen playback

Use the collection preview and playback controls to verify what viewers will see.

Check the active source first

Open the collection overview and check What to show. Confirm whether media, a playlist, or a published layout is active before changing playback.

The preview can show a default image, black screen, or no ready content instead of a media item. Read the status and source label as well as the image.

Use the playback controls

Controls can be disabled when there is no ready media or layout, while an action is being processed, or when your access does not allow the operation. Check the action message if a request fails.

ControlUse it to
Restart current itemRestart the current media item or supported source.
Pause playback / Resume playbackTake a temporary pause or continue playback.
Stop playbackStop the current playback session.
Play next itemMove to the next eligible item in the playback flow.

Check the upcoming content

Use Up next to inspect the queue for the active source. A layout can use managed areas rather than a simple full-screen media list.

If you remove an upcoming item, check which source or list the operation affects. Removing a Content relationship does not delete the workspace’s original media asset.

Confirm playback on the actual target

  • Check whether Web Viewer or the physical display is the active target.
  • For a physical display, check its status and Last seen.
  • Inspect the actual display after a source or playback change.
  • Treat a local or estimated progress indicator as a preview, not confirmation of physical playback.

Watch for scheduled changes

A Scheduled next notice links to the collection’s Schedule page. A scheduled window can change its playlist and playback state.

Review upcoming windows if the screen changes unexpectedly. Stopping playback now does not mean future saved schedules have been canceled.
